This massive festival on the shores of Lake Michigan features marquee music and comedy acts amid summer breezes.
The Skinny
Milwaukee's Summerfest claims to be the world's biggest musical
festival, nabbing the bragging rights in the 1999 Guinness Book
of World Records. The festival began as a community gathering in
1968 but now attracts nearly 1 million visitors during its 11-day
run. On 90 acres in downtown Milwaukee, by the shores of Lake Michigan,
the festival offers tons of food, big-name music acts and comedy
along with activities for children and families.
The Headliners
Summerfest has both legends and up-and-comers gracing its 13 stages,
but the headliners play the festival's 24,000-seat Marcus Amphitheater.
Brooks & Dunn, John Mellencamp and Alicia Keys are among the
stars heading this year's festival.
